Tours and Activities
There’s tons to do and see on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. Here are some of the tours and activities we recommend that are either in the area or which pick up/drop off at area hotels. We’ll even book it for you! Use the links below to book online or our tour partner Gecko Trail Adventures has an office right at the hotel to help you with everything you need.
Most of our tours will pick you up and return you right to Banana Azul (or sometimes to another Costa Rica destination so great to do at the beginning or end of your Banana Azul stay!). Tours which do not include transportation are indicated in the details and we will be happy to assist to you in getting to the start point in those cases.

Whitewater Rafting
There are several rivers on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica that have world class whitewater rafting including the world famous Pacuare River. For most of these trips, you can choose to get picked up in one destination (for example, San Jose or Arenal) and dropped off in another (for example Banana Azul) at the end of the day. Because the rafting location is located between this transforms a day of transportation into a day of adventure! So these are great options for the day your arrive or leave from Banana Azul.
River options range from tame to terrifying! So choose the right option for you.
Jungle, Nature and Wildlife
The Puerto Viejo area has some of the most spectacular natural areas in the country and are even of international importance. The area includes several protected areas including Cahuita National Park and the Gandoca-Manzanillo Refuge.
Ways to enjoy nature range from guided hikes in the reserve and national park or ziplining through the trees! Then there’s kayaking, turtle watching, bird watching, dolphin watching…I could go on and on but you can see all the choices here.
Activities: Surfing, Scuba, Snorkeling, Quad, Fishing, Massage, Spa
There are many local activities we can help you arrange. Many of these do book up so if you want to experience horseback riding along the beach or fishing, then have us book these activities for you in advance. Others like surf lessons or snorkeling you can book when you’re here if you like or in advance as you prefer.

Destination Packages
You’ve decided to make the Caribbean Coast and Banana Azul your main destination – who are we to argue? But if you want to see something else these packages are a great way to add a destination on to your stay here. All packages include transportation from Banana Azul (or do them before arriving here and get dropped off here) and accommodations. Some even include all or some meals. You can add on locations like Arenal, Bocas del Toro in Panama, Monteverde or Tortuguero.
